‘Art Deserves Better Design’ for Artlogic Connect 2025, 17 September 2025

I joined Sylvia Rupani Smith, Director of Digital Engagement at Marian Goodman Gallery, and Nolan Feng of the Tom of Finland Foundation for a panel discussion moderated by Joe Elliott of Artlogic.

We shared insights from our respective practices on how design in the art world often works against itself—cluttered websites, competing visual hierarchies, and interfaces that overshadow the work. Drawing on our experiences, we discussed what galleries can do differently: designing digital and physical spaces that support rather than distract from art, balancing institutional needs with accessibility, and letting the work speak for itself.

The conversation offered practical takeaways for galleries navigating their own design challenges.
